Commander’s Corner
Once Again, we bid Farewell to another year. It has been filled with a combination of great things, some unfinished projects and a few losses of friends, family and members.
Let's start with a few of the positive stuff. We have reestablished interaction with the JROTC at Boynton Beach High School due to the hard work and attention by Paul Carroll. Santalucia's High School is on the list to be reestablished in 2023.
The Post exterior up grades are on hold but will be followed up as soon as we can get Home Depot to come back. Tracy is on it but can only get done what she can with some communication issues at the Home Depot end. Never Fear Tracy will succeed.
The VFW Round up in Orlando was a great success and a number of events are soon to be coming to South Florida to Salute our Veteran Population.
While in Orlando I also attended the USAR (Army Reserve) change of Command Ceremony for the 389th Combat Engineer Bn and was also honored to be the Guest Speaker at the Military Ball to Represent the VFW.
The Auxiliary Halloween Party was a great success but that and other events for 2023 need to be brought back and supported by Both Membership as well as the Auxiliary. So, let's get back into the swing of things and start showing up and when and where you can get your hands busy.
Due to the Unfortunate Hurricane Ian and the destruction, it brought Our Post donated $500 to the relief that was a priority of the State VFW. Due our efforts and the massive support and leadership from Governor Ron DeSantis, Florida not only came back but was able to deal with a second Hurricane because of the statewide support system in place again the VFW was there.
Veterans day was again a great event at the Tom Kaiser Veterans Park and was attended by all veterans' organizations as well as a good showing from our Post thanks to members of the Post and its auxiliary.
The Thanksgiving Dinner was a big success with over 100 dinners being run thru the Kitchen.
Thanksgiving was prepared and funded by the Dale and Couch Kane Family. A big thank you to them for their support and Hard work. A big assist by Julia in having a smooth delivery is also due a Thankful at Ta Girl!
Congrats to the winners of the drawing for the Lottery Tickets, Gift Cards and Prizes.
Our Post Adopted military unit the 388th Combat Engineer Company is having a Christmas party BBQ on December 11th at the park and any that want and can attend are welcome. If there is anyone who wants to be Santa Clause to arrive to see the kids will be doing it from the turret of an MMPV as Santa’s Sleigh. If you're up for it contact me ASAP. And I will put in touch with the 388th Commander Lt Topete.
We still have an opportunity to become an All-State Post again so get out there and recruit!!!
I was invited to the Korean War Veterans Monthly meeting, and it was an eye opener. The Post Donated $50 to their post fund. These are men and woman in their late 80’s and 90’s and very active!! They had 19 members and several of their auxiliary in attendance.
If they can make meetings what's your EXCUSE!!
They are also involved with the “QUILT OF VALOR” If anyone has a veteran to nominate see me for the Info and a copy of the nomination Form for the Request form and guidelines.
I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy, Healthy and Safe Christmas and New Year. Please Remember and say a Prayer to all we have lost year. Family, Friends those with no one to miss them.
Remember all those who have served In Peace and War. All that have given their Lives or become disabled as a result of that service. Remember who we are The Veterans of Foreign Wars “WE ARE OUR BROTHERS KEEPER” During this Time of Year we all to one degree or another Donate or support our special Organizations both Civilian and Veteran. And Usually, it goes to the National Organization but this year if you can or want to be in the Holiday giving mood Think about donating to this VFW Post Directly with a contribution or support us thru the Banner by advertising or being a Post Sponsor by remembering Friends or family continue to allow us to support our local veteran population and the Post Operations.

AUXILLIARY MESSAGE
Welcome to December and to our Christmas month. Hope everybody had a wonderful time at our Thanksgiving dinner on the 24th. Dale & Coach did a fine job. They also donated this dinner which was extremely gracious of them. Thank you for all you do for this Auxiliary. Now onto membership. We’re almost there. Remember you have until the end of the year to renew. It’s only $25 and there is a mailbox for the auxiliary on the office door in the dining room. Just drop a check and we will take care of it. I want to thank everybody for my first six months as auxiliary president. And I want to thank everybody who attends these meetings. Remember the meeting is the first Tuesday of every month at 6 PM. Try to attend. It saddens me to inform you that our past national president, Sandy Germany passed away this month. Prayers go out to her family. Are you ready???? 2023 is better than 30 days away? But we should look forward to challenges and opportunities it gives us all in the new year increase participation in post activities, increased membership for both the post and auxiliary and increased service to our veterans and our community if it is to be, it’s up to me ( us ) in 23. Just do it. I thank everyone for their continuous support in our auxiliary. Please don’t give up. We need each and every one of you. Thank you again and God bless. Joseph
